This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a high poverty area and many times do not have access books at home. Our school district is going through a series of budget cuts. It's very difficult for me to provide them with the books we need in the classroom.
Our school is a Title 1 school and the majority of students qualify for a free lunch.
My students come from a high poverty neighborhood with a very diverse range of home structures such as nuclear, single parent, foster and migrant to name a few. However, my students are eager to learn.
My Project
My students need different leveled reading books in order for them to be able to have books according to their reading level. My students go to the library and read books during independent work time. Even though my students are in third grade a few of my students are reading below a grade level or two and It is very frustrating for them not to find books at their level.
My project is so important because it includes books my current and future students will enjoy reading.
My students will be able to take this books home to read so that they can become better readers.
