My Project

Our language arts classroom provides students with a wide range of books with characters and themes that best matches their interests and needs. We seek to build a classroom library that represents the diversity in our classroom community.

Books written with African American and Hispanic protagonists are important for students to read that best represents them.

Books by Kwame Alexander, Jason Reynolds, Jacqueline Woodson, and Raina Telgemeier will help add high-interest and diverse books to our classroom library that will enable students to read and explore topics and interests that provoke thought and help build lifelong readers.

The Jason Reynolds Track Series books, March Graphic Novel Trilogy, Women in Black History, and a coloring book for newcomers are just a few that will encourage students to read.
