Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students love reading! But as an underfunded school we do not always have access to buy new books. We'd love to replace some books we've lost (parts of series) so students can enjoy them! Students in our school have three devoted blocks a day to read whatever they want (as long as it's on their reading level). A lot of our struggling readers really show an affinity for fantasy and/or dystopian series, and poetry. We want to insure uninhibited access to the whole series. Our students also use these texts to inspire their own dystopian short stories, which they create, as well as their own poetry.
