I love being able to teach from children's picture books. Books are such a valuable tool for teaching and learning. My students love to see real pictures in books that show exactly what I am reading about. For example, if we are talking about farm animals, they think it is awesome to see a real picture of each animal in its surroundings. We want more books that give factual information with real pictures. I want to add more to our library that I can share with them. Reading comprehension is an important component of reading success. I know these books will aid in helping them develop and improve reading comprehension skills.
I teach kindergarten in a low-income, high-need area.
My school is a Title I Florida school. My school consists of 74% free and reduced lunch, and 85% of its students come from ethnic backgrounds. My students love to listen to me as I read them stories.
My Project
That is where I need your help. My classroom needs a library of nonfiction stories. My students need nonfiction books that are written for young learners to help us learn important information. Having these books will allow me to share more information with my students, which in return will give them the knowledge to become successful learners. This organization has been such a helpful resource to my classroom, and I hope you help my classroom have continued success.
Your generosity will give my students a library full of books to facilitate their learning.
Thank you for taking the time to read my proposal and for being interested in helping our students to take their education to a higher level.
