I am a high school teacher for a 9th-grade ELA class, and I serve 160 students. I would like to get high school-level books into my classroom that are engaging and both fiction and non-fiction in order to expose my students to a variety of texts. Students will have a choice in what they read and will discuss their selections in literature circles. We will track the dates and times on a calendar so that all students can be organized and prepared for these group activities.
Overall, literature circles will enable my students to build organization skills, reading skills, communication skills, and collaboration skills.
In order to help my students track their progress, I will be posting the schedules and dates on a wall calendar in the classroom. I will also order some teacher resources regarding literature circles on TPT so that I can support my students in their discussions and provide guiding resources for the books that they are reading.
