Books for Lit Circles! 8th grade Honors ELA!

Help me give my students texts for literary circles! This will allow my students to engage deeply with the themes of each focus unit, while exploring how these ideas are related to their lives and interests!

My Project

This year, my 8th-grade honors students successfully completed four independent reading projects, one each term. They selected texts or novels based on their interests and the themes of our unit of study. These projects have proven valuable in encouraging reading beyond the classroom and fostering connections with families.

As I considered ways to enhance these projects for next year, the idea of Literature Circles truly resonated!

Instead of the current structure where students select a text independently, locate it themselves, read individually, and complete their projects solo, I envision implementing Lit Circles.

By providing the books, students will choose from a focused list of texts that align with their interests. They will then read collaboratively with their peers and work together on a group project. I believe that this collaborative approach will foster deeper student engagement and lead to more productive and insightful conversations.

To bring this exciting vision of Literature Circles to life, we are seeking your support to build a classroom library of engaging and relevant books. By providing multiple copies of a carefully selected range of titles, we can ensure that all students have access to high-quality texts that spark their interest and facilitate meaningful group discussions.
