This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I come from an inner city school where students are not exposed to much reading at home. As a fifth grade teacher I want to keep their love for reading. My students have a variety of needs that I try to meet everyday. My students want to learn and they try their best everyday.
I want to make them life long learners.
I can achieve that by showing them a love for reading. I want them to have a love for different reading genres. I want them to be able to get lost in a book.
My Project
We are requesting guided reading books such as The Black Stallion, Holes, and Tuck Everlasting for small group instruction. Donations for this project will help my students' learning by supplying books for the classroom library and books for my small group instruction. I will be using these books for small group instruction where we will be able to dig into books and their meaning.
I want to help my students succeed in the classroom and in life.
I want to help my students stay motivated learners. These books will motivate them to become readers. The books are interesting books that are relevant to them and current. My goal is to instill the love of reading for a lifetime. Reading will do that.
