My Students
My students are from the inner city of Washington, D.C.! The school has more than 80% of its students receiving free or reduced-price lunches. We are a school that strives to serve low-income families to the fullest extent.
Every day that my students walk into the room, we are reminded to leave our worries at the door and get ready to learn.
We love to dance and sing. We love listening to characters take on new adventures and we love making connections to the world around us!
My Project
Townsend Press has a great collection of guided reading books that interest students and are just right readers for students beginning to learn to read. These books will be used in direct instruction during small group time to help develop better and more engaged readers in my classroom. Students can continue to learn more sight words and how great readers think about stories. Then students can go back and read the books again independently for more practice! We will develop a live or reading and learning through these engaging stories.
