Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My class is called College Reading and Writing and is a course that is designed to help seniors with extra literacy support that will prepare them to read and write on a college level. Most of my students will be the first in their families to attend college and many have learned English as a second language. Because of this, they need extra support in order for them to achieve their dream of going to college and graduating from college successfully. The mission of our school is to graduate 100% of our students and send 100% to post-secondary education. We have had a high level of success in meeting this goal. I hope to continue this success in my classroom by preparing students

My students often do not have models in their community of successful college graduates. For many of them, they will be the first person in their families to attend college. They need advice and preparation for this major transition.

That is why they need this library of college resource books. These books give students advice about going to college and surviving both academically and socially. I have also requested a few ACT preparation books for students who are looking to improve their ACT scores for college admission.

My students are really motivated to attend college, but they need these extra resources in order to get there! Please help me to make their college dreams more accessible.
