My Students

I have a very energetic class full of 21 fourth graders. They love to learn new skills, expand their knowledge, read new books, and take daily adventures. They are very active and love to be on the move. I also teach five English language learners in addition to my 21 students.

Our school is in a small, rural town in Tennessee.

My school currently enrolls just under 1,000 students from PreK to fourth grade. The majority of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of our students come to school to have daily adventures and to expand their knowledge.

My Project

Many of the boys in my classroom are reluctant readers. They are active and like to play contact sports. They see reading as boring and a waste of time. When I asked them why they didn't want to read any of our classroom books, they informed me that many of the books I have are for girls. They were right! Many of the books I have are geared more toward girls. In order to get my boys to read, I need books they want to read!

Help give my classroom more boy-friendly books that they will enjoy reading!

I would love to add the Series of Unfortunate Events books, Harry Potter set, Percy Jackson collection, I Survived series, and The Hero of Olympus series to my classroom library. My boys have asked for these series specifically and I would love to be able to get them this year.
