Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love to take on new roles and use their imaginations. One of their favorite activities is reading aloud plays. We learn about history by becoming the character from the past.

My students are amazing 4th graders from the southside of Chicago.

My students speak Spanish at home and read and write in both Spanish and English in school. Many students are children of immigrants or immigrants themselves. They are hard workers and love coming to school!

My Project

Students will store their book bins on the shelf in the classroom. Students avidly seek out new books and magazines as they pursue their own interests. We need more space to house books. Students will use the plays to form play clubs that will act out plays during various points in the year.

Reading aloud plays is a fabulous way for English Language Learners to practice fluency in English.

Moreover, students love it! I love it because students also learn content without even knowing it!
