Books for Beginning Readers

Help me give my students books to read that emphasize Asian American and Pacific Islander experiences and biographies. I also want to give students who are starting to read their first chapter book!

My Project

My students have worked very hard this year to become readers. They are excited about reading and always jump at the opportunity to read a book. We have usually been online reading because of the many options; however, I want them to gain experience with hard copies of books that represent diverse backgrounds and experiences. The books in this order will allow for that opportunity.

They also love our read aloud time and I want to give them amazing stories that allow for rich discussion and learning.

Through these picture books, we will discuss how we connect to those in the story and what the characters have learned through their experiences.
