Books for Beginning Readers

Help me give my students books for my Kindergarten and first grade beginning readers!

My Students

My classroom is an elementary school library. All students in the building, kindergarten through fifth grade, come to the library each week to check out books, do research, and learn technology skills. My school is located in Port Orchard.

We have over 470 students at our school that visits the library weekly.

Our school population has over 40% of our students are eligible for the free and reduced-price lunch program. All students are equal when it comes to learning and all of my students deserve every advantage I can give them.

My Project

These books will inspire my kindergarten and first graders to read books at their own level. Although we have lots of books in our library most of them are geared towards students that are higher level readers. As Kindergartners and even first graders get ready to read they tend to choose books that are too difficult for them to read on their own.

These books will allow my students to choose books that they can be successful reading on their own.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. It will also get them excited about reading. The best way to increase a students reading ability is to read more, and these books help my students grow stronger in reading.
