My Project

Books are an important part of the school day. Having high-quality books for students can help them become more engaged in specific topics, bring awareness to certain topics, and help teach children how to manage their emotions.

My goal for this project is to provide books for my class library that would be of interest to students and social-emotional books to help enhance my lessons.

I want to make sure students are represented in the books they are seeing and reading. It is important for children to see an image of their race/culture represented in books. This can let them know they are welcome and valued. I have included several books that show characters of different races and cultures that I would like to place in my class library.

Lastly, I am in need of some social-emotional books to help with my lessons on self-regulation, emotions, and specific behavior topics. Having social-emotional books to use during my lessons will greatly impact the students. Students will learn the necessary skills and strategies to help them regulate and continue to be ready for learning.
