This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Did you have many books to read as a child? Well, not every child has the same opportunities. My students come from a low socioeconomic area, and the only books they may have a chance to read are those in school.
My first grade students are motivated, hard working, and eager to learn.
They are limited to the resources they have at home. They come from a low socioeconomic area, and their families don't always have the money to buy them books. In class I have books for them to read, but I would like for them to have books to read at home as part of their homework.
My Project
The books in this project will be used for checkout. With a checkout system, the books will go home with a multitude of students for home practice. The students will borrow the books to read at home for homework each night. This project will greatly benefit my students. They'll have great literature to practice their reading skills, and they'll have a variety of books to choose from. I've seen the look on students' faces when they successfully read a book. The pride they feel will encourage them to read another book, and another, building to a lifelong love of reading.
Your generous donation will build the next generation of competent readers.
First grade is a big step for children in their reading and writing careers. Please help those who need resources at home for reading.
