My Students

I have two half day preschool classes of three, four, and five year olds. The two groups of students have grown so much in the first semester of school! They are becoming very independent.

My school is in a low-income area and all of my students are on free or reduced breakfast and lunch.

They love coming to school and all have loving and caring families that are extremely involved in the classroom. They are grateful for the positive experience their students are having for their first time in school.

My Project

I would like to get more books that can be a mirror and a window for my students. It is important for young children to see themselves in picture books (mirror) but it is also valuable to see the lives of others (window). Some of these books will be put into my Lending Library. The children are able to check these books out like at a library. They take the book home and bring it back when they're done, then they can choose a new book. Other books that I have requested will be for read-alouds that will support me and engage the students in tough conversations around gender, race, family, and cultures.
