Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Poetry, real-life heroes, the joy of reading, wolves, animal adaptations, and ancient cultures...these are a few of the topics that my students and I will investigate this year. I am excited to guide them through these explorations and participate in their growth as readers, writers, artists, storytellers, and individuals.
Our goal as a bilingual community is to foster our students' development linguistically, academically, culturally, socially, and emotionally.
Our students come from mostly immigrant families from a diverse range of backgrounds. My families are hardworking and dedicated to their children's success. We seek to create a learning environment that is supportive, collaborative, and engaging, where students can develop their individual voices and creativity and have the confidence to share their thoughts and ideas. We want to ensure our students have the tools and skills to succeed in our ever-changing world.
As a teacher, I constantly grow and learn with my students, as together we explore new worlds, new skills, and new relationships. This wondrous process can occur anywhere and anytime, but with the necessary supports, it can be more fluid and constant, laying the foundations for lifelong engagement in learning and discovery.
My Project
This collection of books by experts in dual language education collection will support my growth as a teacher, and in turn, allow me to better support my students. They will provide our classroom with new tools and strategies to improve instruction and interventions.
Students need strong teachers who are flexible and open to new ideas and who seek solutions to challenges.
Teachers need tool that help them grow and learn constantly along with their students, modeling both best practices in teaching and our ultimate goal of lifelong learning. As teachers, we learn from our students, from our colleagues and from innovative and knowledgeable experts, either through great professional development or from our professional library. These books will support our classroom practices and allow for more effective learning for all students.
