Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Recently, our school district, which already has financial challenges, faced an issue that is happening too often in schools: an internet disruption. Our server shutdown due to a virus or a hack- leaving our students without internet access for close to two months! Technology is a cornerstone of education, my students rely on it to conduct research and in my course, to discover! My course, History of American Popular Culture does not have a textbook and we rely on the internet and school library databases. The Wi-Fi outages have disrupted and hindered the learning process. While our school continues to address our technological issues, I want to ensure our students have a reliable alternative to continue learning without interruption.

When the digital world lets us down, books are our backup!

Help me create a classroom library of books related to the History of American Popular Culture. My students will use them to help make arguments and hold discussions about the importance and role music, television and film in our society.
