My Project
My students must read every day to maintain and grow as readers. Life moves fast, and so every day needs to be an opportunity not lost. Students in my classroom enjoy reading about heroes and villains in worlds where anything is possible if they just take the daily leap. My school media center doesn't have a large collection of books, so I have built my classroom collection to over 1000 titles. Now the books need a place to be displayed, not in milk crates, but on wooden shelves to showcase them.
Readers will often pick up on how a book looks, condition, and cover art.
Therefore, every book deserves a place of prominence where students can visually examine it and choose what catches their eye.
Students who read grow in their ability to read. As we work to beautify the classroom, help my students see that books deserve to be displayed with respect and care on wooden bookshelves.
