This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

If funded through DonorsChoose, the books I’m requesting will profoundly impact my students with severe and profound disabilities. These carefully selected texts are designed to be engaging and accessible, featuring vivid illustrations and interactive elements that cater to diverse learning needs. By incorporating multisensory experiences, these books will foster communication skills and stimulate cognitive development, allowing students to connect with the content in meaningful ways.

My primary goal for this project is to create an inclusive reading environment that not only promotes literacy but also encourages a love for storytelling.

I aim to empower my students to express themselves and engage with the material, enhancing their overall learning experience. Additionally, I want to facilitate collaborative learning opportunities, where students can share stories and engage in discussions, fostering social skills and peer interactions.

What makes my students special is their unique perspectives and resilience. Despite their challenges, they possess a remarkable curiosity and a desire to learn. Each student has their own strengths, whether it’s a keen interest in colorful illustrations or a response to rhythmic storytelling. By providing them with appropriate reading materials, I hope to nurture their individual talents and inspire a lifelong passion for learning. Together, we can create a vibrant classroom community where every student feels valued and empowered to explore the world of books.
