Books Come Alive with a Digital Listening Center!

My students need six MP3 players so that we can listen to audiobooks while reading a hard copy!

My Students

My 21 students have 21 unique personalities! With so many unique qualities come unique learning styles and abilities. My fabulous first graders are currently reading on a multitude of different levels! MP3 players will enable us to listen to audio books that are perfect for our individual levels.

My fabulous firsties are a wild and wonderful group of 21 diverse students from small-town Western Pennsylvania.

Located in an area of moderate poverty, school funds are pretty limited these days! We love to do hands-on activities while learning all about the world around us! We're emergent readers who love some good books! Fortunately, our teacher has a HUGE collection of books on CD. If she can get this project funded, she will put the audio books onto the MP3 players for us to listen to during centers or independent work time! Our teacher does not have a CD player, plus our little hands don't do well with CDs. MP3 players would be the perfect solution to our listening center problem!

My Project

Funding this project will help my readers blossom! Not only will they be able to independently self-select reading material since I made sure to pick affordable MP3 players with a screen for my visual learners, but this will help to put the perfect book in the hands of my little learners! Some of my kids are already ready for Harry Potter (seriously!), while others need some extra time with Sam I Am. I will be able to put these stories onto the MP3 players so each child has his or her own go-to audio books during school!

This project is important because it inspires my first graders to read!

Reading is a critical life skill - and I want all of my kids to LOVE reading! There's just something special about having a book read to you - and this is the perfect way to make all of my little first graders feel special while learning to love reading!
