This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Books are a powerful method of communication. We meet each morning and read and talk together. We honor all students' lived experiences. We know that learning about others creates empathy. It helps us find our voice in a world that can seem crazy at times.

We learn to become citizens of the world.

When we read books by underrepresented authors and communities, we are moving towards a more global awareness. It helps students feel honored and protected when their lived experience is honored in a book.

Thank you in advance for helping my students find their voices and empathy. They are learning that they can make a difference.
