Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach kindergarten at a Title I school. Our district helps our low socioeconomic community by providing free breakfast and lunch to students. Most students at my school have not had the privilege to attend pre-K. They also may not have the learning experiences they need prior to kindergarten.

I have 19 blended eager to learn kindergarten students.

Several of my students are Non-English speakers when entering my classroom. Our school caters to over 500 diverse students. We are an all Kindergarten School with 27 classroom teachers. We strive to provide a safe and effective learning environment for all of our students.

My Project

These books will enhance my classroom library with print- rich books. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them and they complete work there. Every book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care and I am thankful for the opportunity to read to my kids daily. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have selected these books to help with the beginning of the year. At the beginning of the year, books are so important to help with rules and procedures.

With these new books, I will be able to teach rules and procedures in a fun and loving way.

These books are some of the ones my children over the years have loved. Adding these wonderful books my classroom library will allow me to ensure that my students will have these books in years to come. Getting them from the library is nice but it allows the possibility of the library not having the book in stock and my children not getting to hear them. A great classroom library is so very important to me and my children.
