Books Books Galore!

My students need books to read this year as I help them develop a love of reading and learning. As of right now, I only have younger books. The older students need their own books too.

My Students

I have 15 wonderful kids who are teaching me daily how to be a better teacher and human. My 1st grade friend is new to my class and he is a total joy: shy but smiley and super sensitive. He's learning how to read and write in my class. My 2nd grade friends are super special. They have big hearts and for the most part, a love of school. I have one 2nd grade friend who is completely brilliant but he doesn't like school. He doesn't believe in himself or his abilities and I want to change that this year. He "hates reading and doing work" but I think with the right books, he would absolutely love what we're doing in my class this year. My 3rd grade friends are working on comprehension this year and bettering their reading and writing skills. They have the sweetest personalities and the kindest hearts I've ever met.

My 5th and 6th grade friends are new to me, but they are so much fun to be around.

Each one of them has the coolest personality and they all seem willing to work hard and learn. I can't wait for all we're going to learn!

My Project

My students need a variety of books that they can choose from in my class. I teach ELA for my school's Special Education program and many of the students either can't read well or don't have access to GOOD books at home to practice their reading skills. The more we read, the better readers we will become. When we are able to read better, all of our other subjects in schools become a little easier to manage. Reading is essential in school and I want to foster a love of reading and learning in my classroom before my older kids move up to middle school.

By donating to our project, you are helping me instill in my students a love of reading so they can grow and learn and reach new heights in their education.

Reading helps all areas of growth, including empathy, social skills, writing, social studies, and in using their imaginations.

The noise cancelling headphones are included in this project in order to help create a reading and learning environment that is conducive for all learning styles of my students.
