This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Books are fun to read! Through out the day and in any subject students need to have the opportunity to open a book and enjoy it.

Our school is a public school in Los Angeles.

Students are surrounded by poverty and limited resources in their neighborhood. Our school is new and has limited funding due to the economic crisis. Students are eager to learn and to open books but unfortunately our classroom libraries are not complete.

My Project

My students need books such as leveled readers, Math Start Stories and Grammar books to help them become better readers. Having fun math books to read during math time will enhance their understanding. Adding more books to our classroom libraries will provide students with the opportunity to learn and explore. Providing them with level readers students will be able to read books at their level and feel successful. Math stories books will make math interesting and fun. By reading a story students can understand the math concept and make a connection. Students will write their own math stories.

Students will be exposed to different types of literature.

Having more books in our classroom libraries students will have a variety of books to chose from. Books will enhance and engage students in the lesson for math and grammar!
