Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is very diverse in that we have many English Language Learners who make up almost half the population of our school. Also, we are an all kindergarten school made up of approximately five hundred 5 and 6-year-olds. That's a lot of little bodies that can be influenced in a positive way.

I teach eighteen enthusiastic, eager, and energetic kindergartners at a Title I school.

Our school is in a very low socioeconomic community. Because we are in a high-poverty community, all students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch through the community eligibility program. Most of my students have not had the opportunity to attend pre-k or had significant learning experiences in their homes.

My Project

My students love listening to me read books! The books in this project are perfect for kindergarten read-aloud time because they are brightly illustrated and are appealing to young children. These books are appropriate in length, humor, and lessons for teaching young children. My students are always asking me when storytime is.

Read-aloud time is my favorite part of the day!

I love reading to my students and these books are perfect for keeping them engaged, laughing, and learning.

I hope to give my students new books to add to our classroom library for daily read-aloud time and story sharing.
