Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All my students come from Spanish speaking families, I teach them in Spanish while building their English vocabulary and fluency. The majority of my students come from immigrant families.

The neighborhood is mostly Latino and with very close knit caring hard working families.

The school is a Title I school and 100% of the students qualify for free lunch.

I enjoy working there and have worked in the same school for many years. I get students that are in college that come to visit and are always grateful that I was their teacher.

My Project

I am requesting leveled Spanish books so that I can send them to my students homes for them to be able to read physical books and not only digital ones. I teach my students to read in Spanish and these types of books are hard for them to access. I am also asking for social emotional books to be able to read to my students during our zoom meetings, to help them with feelings getting to know each other, difference between them and all that’s going on in the world at this moment.
