This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a classroom full of awesome second graders who will soon be third graders. Their love for learning and strive for excellence are evident each and every day!

My students come from multi-family homes and many of my families are on a reduced income.

My school is a renaissance school (93% of the students are on free or reduced-price lunch). The population of the school is 70% Hispanic learners. Most students do not have access to books or learning materials at home. The students at my school are driven and excelling to reach their full potential even in the face of adversity.

My Project

My students love to read and love to learn new things! By using a cross-curricular approach to education, students will be able to read about math content! The books will be used daily to introduce and discuss math skills. Over half of my students are learning English as a second language. The books will help the students build their vocabulary skills. It will also give them exposure to real world connections with the second grade curriculum. The pirate books will capture the students' attention and create a fun and exciting place to learn every day!

By helping fund this grant you will be giving students a chance to excel through content rich literature.

They will be able to improve on their reading skills, vocabulary, and math. Thank you for investing in our future!
