My students need a variety of 45 different books, like "The Random House Book of Poetry for Children," "Who Was Louis Armstrong" and "Knock at a Star : A Child's Introduction to Poetry," in order to meet individual needs in different units of study

My Students

In order to grow avid readers, my students needs books that will grab their interests. My class loves to read and I want to be able to provide them with quality books that match up with the necessary curriculum.

I have a class of 22 amazing young people!

We are a group that loves to have fun! We aim daily to be the change that we want to see in others, learning not only academics, but life skills. My class is a community where my students feel comfortable to be who they are. My school is so diverse and we learn from each other everyday.

My Project

With the books that I have selected like The Random House Book of Poetry for Children; Who Was Louis Armstrong; and Knock at a Star : A Child's Introduction to Poetry my students will be able to engage quality texts that are aligned with specific units of study. My school has recently moved to a balanced literacy curriculum. In this reading program, students read books that are on their level. We do not use a one size fits all text book. This leaves a big need for quality books for every student.

Donations to this project will help my students be life long readers.

It will give me, as a teacher, the opportunity to provide kids with rich and current literature to fulfill their needs not only academically, but personally as well.
