My students need 26 riveting early chapter books such as "Katie Woo Rules the School" and "Never Glue Your Friends to Chairs", to inspire them to read.

My Students
My students are just on the verge of discovering that independent reading can be fun. However, we have a shortage of engaging and imaginative early chapter books in our classroom library.
I teach second grade in an urban school in New York.
Our student population is amazingly diverse: academically, ethnically, culturally, and socio-economically. Watching young people from such differing backgrounds come together to create a cohesive and cooperative classroom community is always an inspiration to me.
My Project
In my classroom, students select "just-right books," and progress through higher reading levels at their own pace. When the students find their books truly interesting, they are much more likely to read with focus and stamina. And the more they read, the more quickly they progress through the more challenging levels. I want to build my classroom library so that we have an abundance of books that are appealing to young readers.
As a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than inspiring a love of reading in my students.
Your donation will help me inspire that love of reading by helping me improve my classroom library.
