My Students

I am a Special Education teacher in a Third Grade Integrated Co-Teach Class where there are Special Education students learning alongside General Education students. Our school consists of culturally and linguistically diverse students within a low socioeconomic community.

Remote teaching and learning have been challenging, however, we are trying to make it work and keep our students engaged!

We need to keep this engagement going once we all return to the classroom in September!

My Project

I remember as a kid how much I would LOVE to sit in a small group with my classmates and talk about the book we were reading! I couldn't wait to share all my thoughts on the chapter we were assigned to read! We sat in a cozy corner in our classroom, laughed talked and dived into the book! I would love to create that same special memory and moment that I had as a kid.

Giving my students back their love of reading will be a major priority come September.

Dan Gutman’s “My Weird School” series is sure to catch my students attention and encourage them to want to read. Who can resist books with titles such as “Miss Daisy is Crazy”, “Mr. Klutz is Nuts”, or “Ms. Hannah is Bananas!”? These sets of chapter books will be a great addition to our book club and literature circles!

Our students have been out of school for more than a year and learning remotely. Returning back to school in September and getting students back into a routine is going to be a daunting task.

I would like to ensure that the classroom that they are returning to is inviting, encouraging, and engaging!
