it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you belong to a book club? Then you know how exciting it is to meet with a group of peers and discuss the book that you just can't stop reading. Third graders are experimenting with this great experience for the first time. They need the books that will allow them to build a love for book clubs.
My students are energetic, kind, and motivated children eager to learn.
They attend a high needs school in the Big Apple. This is my eighth year teaching at this school. I teach an average of 30 students each year.
In third grade, many students are just beginning to develop and master this phenomenon we call reading. They begin to learn about themselves as readers. They find those books that just get them going. They are eager to share their thoughts, comments, and questions about books with classmates. One way we continue to develop all of this is through book clubs. My students need these books.
My Project
In a world overflowing with technological devices, books are a precious treasure. They give students limitless possibilities. They imagine, predict, make connections, infer, draw conclusions, and question. They also allow students to foster social skills. During book clubs, students share, listen to, and build on each other's thoughts. They learn to respect others' opinions. This is crucial for their overall development as world citizens.
Yes!
My kids need these books to help them develop as competent readers. They will also develop their social skills. These are skills that will help them become well-rounded individuals.
