Books, Books And More Books

My students need a classroom set of books that inspire them to think about cultural sensitivity and sensitivity to those who may be physically different from them.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength." -- Maya Angelou. Through the power of books, my students will understand the true meaning of this quote and begin to see the beauty in all people.

My students are kind, hard-working, and success-driven.

They possess inspiring, and heart-warming characteristics despite the fact that they come from a poverty stricken neighborhood and don't have all the finest things that money can buy. Their resilience and desire to succeed inspires me to be the best teacher I can be. They may not have material things, but they have heart. That heart will allow them to conquer any and all of life's challenges!!

My Project

I have selected several age appropriate books that will take students outside of the small community they live in and expose them to a world of diversity. They will read about different cultures, religions, and people who are physically handicapped to name a few. From reading the books that I have chosen, students will learn that there is beauty in being different, and regardless of our differences we are all the same inside.

I know the hearts of my students and I know that they will take the themes learned from these books to become more compassionate, culturally sensitive, inspiring human beings.

They will also have the capability to influence those around them!
