My Students
I teach 2 fourth grade and 2 fifth grade ELA classes. During this pandemic we are doing an A/B hybrid schedule along with Distance learning. This is my first year as a certified teacher, however I know a majority of these students.
The students I have are visual/hands-on learners.
They like to see their progress in front of them. Since we are on a hybrid schedule the students will feel more comfortable learning in a small classroom setting. They will be able to express questions or concerns with something they do not understand. With the classes set up like this, I see more opportunity for growth.
My Project
Next year, I will have about 40 students in my 4th grade class. Instead of using a textbook, my classes read novels. In the past, I have had to piece together around 12 books to share between 40-45 students. Due to Covid-19 it was very difficult to do this without making many copies of each chapter so that everyone could have their own copy. It is important for students to have their own copy while they are in class and not have to worry about sharing. Making copies for each chapter is a burden on my resources as a teacher.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
