My Students

I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, and our elementary students have many challenges in and out of the classroom. All the students at our school receive a free breakfast and lunch. These challenges can hold students back so I do whatever I can to give them every advantage I can. I am looking to provide my students with meaningful learning experiences.

My students have disabilities, but they don’t let their disabilities hold them back.

They strive to do their best every day.

My Project

I've been teaching for 24 years and it's time for me to update my student library. I would like to have a library that represents my students and their backgrounds. I also need books that will help my younger students practice the skills that they are working on, for instance, rhyming, letters, and numbers.

These books will help me teach my students about acceptance and diversity.

I can use these with in-person and virtual students to help open up discussions and lessons about various cultures and disabilities. Books are also a fun way to teach my younger students rhyming, letters, and numbers.
