My students need more sets of guided reading books and picture books in order to advance as the readers and authors that they are. These books will be focused around the theme that they present.

My Students

My class is made up of30 students who come from mostly low-income families and qualify for free/reduced lunch. Many do not have the access to technology outside of school, which makes technology in the classroom an engaging and interactive alternative to traditional learning.

In order to build the desired community within my classroom, I must meet the needs of all of my students.

Meeting their needs serves as a challenge because their abilities are impacted by battling with cognitive disabilities, ADHD, autism, cultural diversity, and more.

My Project

Our classroom has a lack of valuable guided reading book sets. I am asking for a few sets that I can read with my small group of students. Also, I am asking for a few picture books that really hit home with the theme they present; caring for our community, being kind, segregation. BIG topics for 5th graders.

In order for my students to grow as readers, they need to read, and read, and read some more!

One of my greatest philosophies in teaching is helping to shape these kids into kind, respectful, and smart human beings. These books would really help present these life traits to my students in kid-friendly books.
