My Students
Creating a classroom for the future is my goal, but first I need to improve my classroom library that is stuck in the past. Please help us to get new books that are aligned with the new standards.
My classes consist of about 30 students each, 150 total.
There are three fifth grade classes that I teach writing to and two sixth grade classes that I teach reading.
My students love to learn! Every day I have at least five students that browse my bookshelves and check out a book that appeals to them. The problem is that I am running out of books for them. While choosing these books, I have taken into account the interests of my students and I know that these books will fly off the shelves.
My Project
In an inner city school, it is sometimes difficult to escape all of the hustle and bustle, but with a good book it is easier for them to "get away". With these books, my students will be able to better connect with history and other non fiction information that they are learning in social studies and science. The other books that I have chosen will be used for the students' personal reading time.
