Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in a low income, inner city neighborhood that is 95% free and reduced lunch. Our families come from all over the world and speak many different languages. Many are suffering from the hardships of poverty and many of my students have experienced traumatic events in their life. Despite all of their hardships, they come to school excited to learn!

They are a bubbly bunch with big personalities and even bigger dreams.

They talk about becoming engineers, teachers, and scientists. Our school encourages our students to earn a college degree.

Everyday in class, we take adventures through the books we read, challenge our minds in math, and teach others through our writing. We learn to interact positively through games and group work. A life long love of learning starts in kindergarten.

My Project

It's a very exciting time in our kindergarten classroom! My students are beginning to read and I want to provide engaging books to keep them interested.

There's no such thing as too many book adventures!

We also need smaller bins to better organize our books. This will make it easier for my students to access them. The iPad headphones will allow my students to listen to stories without disturbing other children who are working nearby. Finally, the reusable write and wipe envelopes are durable and exciting. Students can easily erase mistakes and they get to use "special markers" that they love!
