My Project
Dr. Rudine Bishop coined this phrase and it is a hallmark to my collection development in the library. Children should see themselves in the books they read. While children's literature publishers have a while, there has been an increase in titles featuring characters of all races, religions, creeds and lifestyles. I think my students deserve to see themselves reflected in the pages of our library books. These books will allow them to do just that! Books can build culture, community and empathy. It is a valuable skills to see one another and respect each other. Books help with that!
