This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Reading is very important in order to compete and survive in life. Many of my students are reading below grade level and do not have books to read that interest them. We need leveled chapter books to read daily, in school and at their homes.
My students attend a Kindergarten - 8th grade school.
Our student body is 99% Latino. We are a Title I school that serves one of the poorest areas in the Los Angeles County. My students are 2nd and 3rd graders who need a variety of books to read at their reading level. Most of them love books but often read all the books I have or can't seem to find books at their reading level.
My Project
Help us! With a variety of books like Pinky and Rex, All Aboard Science Readers and Amber Brown, my students can enjoy good books at school and at home on their grade level. I want them to learn to love reading and be lifelong readers. With a multitude of chapter books, they won't run out of interesting books to read. Help them expand their knowledge, imaginations, and increase their reading levels.
This will impact my students by showing that others care and want them to love reading.
Please give my students the opportunity to become fluent, comprehend what they're reading, and know the feeling of curling up with a good book.
