My students need a classroom library because we don't have any books!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Newman's classroom raised $530

My Students
My students are an exciting group of middle school kids who have autism. We are a very diverse classroom in an urban setting. We believe autism is just another way of learning. My students are in grades 6 to 8.
My students are eager to learn and explore the world around them.
Our goal is to be included in the general education programs as often as possible. This is why I want my students to be exposed to the same things as their peers.
My Project
If my students had a classroom library, then they would be able to increase their reading abilities. They will be used daily during individualized instruction time. My students are very inquisitive so providing them with books will help them answer their own questions. Additionally, they will develop even more questions and research the answers to them.
Imagine sitting in a classroom with no books and depending on the creativity of your teacher to bring the world to you?
Unfortunately, this is the reality my students live with. I would love to not have to print out stories, essays, and other documents for my students. Books are essential for all classrooms to function properly.
