Books and Supplies to Inspire a Love for Reading!

Help me give my students books to inspire a love for reading! These books will help motivate my high needs kids during small groups and keep them interested in growing their skills.

My Students

I teach 22 amazing students in a 5th grade classroom. My students have a variety of backgrounds and cultures that they bring into the classroom. I love the diversity and uniqueness that each student shares with the rest of the class. My students have an enthusiasm and excitement for learning, which makes our classroom very high energy. They love hands-on activities and experiments, and they need those extra experiences to be successful.

Emerson is one of the magnet schools for high needs, behavior, and special education students, which means that many of my kids need extra support.

My goal as an educator is to give students the tools they need to be successful in the world they will be entering into.

My Project

During the pandemic, our students fell behind in their skills, especially reading, due to a lack of resources. These books and supplies will help keep my class interested in reading. Nothing motivates pushing students to grow their skills like a good story. The books I've requested are page turners that have been recommended by other teachers. Resources will be shared amongst our 4th-6th grade team of teachers and passed among multiple classrooms so that they are well used.

Help give our small group and classroom library an update to spark interest and get students to pick up books again.
