Books and Supplies for Our Classroom!

My Project

I have been teaching since the school opened and I have always been blown away by the reading culture this school has developed. I try to keep new and interesting books in the hands of my students. This project will help keep my classroom library fresh and interesting. There are many fun and exciting new books in this project for sustained silent reading time or fast finishers.

The books I've included are Blade of Secrets, Master of Iron, Ender's Game, I Know You Did It, I Must Betray You, The Cousins, Crave, The Prison Healer, Raybearer, Throne of Glass, If He Had Been with Me, The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Ruins of Gorlan.

All of these books will help my students stay interested in reading!

This project also will go towards getting materials we will use in class. We often use highlighters, colored Flair pens, and sticky notes when working on close reading assignments, like the weekly informative article we read and annotate.

At a student engagement training, I went to this week, the speaker recommended whiteboards as a fun way to get student responses. I included a class set of markers and whiteboards to make sure students are engaged and interested. I will use these for comprehension question reviews or vocab games.

I also included a technology docking station and iPhone and Android charging cords to help with classroom management regarding cell phones/AirPods, which has been a big problem the last two school years. Another teacher at my school suggested this and has said that it has helped cut down on cell phone distractions during class because kids always want to use her cool charging station.
