Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These books and social emotional tools will provide my students with important social emotional learning and skill building that will enhance learning. This upcoming school year we will be moving to an inclusion model and all students (no matter the needs or supports) will be incorporated in the general education classroom setting. To provide a setting that is welcoming and supportive, I will build in more opportunities for social emotional skill building through books, tools, and lighting.

Our goal is to create a warm and supportive environment that ALL students can thrive in and build the necessary social emotional skills to be successful humans.

Through the use of strategic books and lessons, all of my students will have opportunities to think about their current strengths and needs and consider ways and opportunities to grow their skills. In addition, students will have opportunities to utilize different tools such as playdough to support their focus, engagement in a way that teaches them to self-identify their needs and be solution oriented. Lastly, through the use of strategic lighting, it will give my students- even those will sensory needs an opportunity to adapt the classroom environment to meet their specific needs to engage in learning at their maximum level.

My students are special because they are joyful, kind and creative. They deserve a classroom that feels safe, inclusive and welcoming. Through your support, my students will build important life skills in order to become the successful adults that I know they will become!
