This project is fully funded

I teach at a rural mountain school in North Carolina. My first graders love reading and books! My students need access to quality, high level books appropriate for first graders. Everyday my teacher assistant and I send home a book with each student to read. We match the reader with a book that is on his/her independent reading level and we also try to match their interest. Additionally, we attempt to vary the genre of the books so that the students are reading fiction and non-fiction on a weekly basis. The next day the student retells the book to one of us and reads several favorite pages to us. We appreciate you helping our class to expand our take-home book library to better match the needs of our students.
