My Students

This year I have the privilege of teaching an amazing, resilient crew of 4th graders. Our school is located in Northeastern Los Angeles county, and my students come to me from a variety of backgrounds. Approximately 32% of the students at our school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. We are a small school with a big heart.

My students love listening to and talking about books and reading.

We have not let distance learning hamper our ability to share good books and have rich, engaging conversations. This school year, our learners are working from home and they need books to support them in their learning.

My Project

The resources I have selected will help me in the classroom as we build routines and deal with the new challenges in this new normal of learning and teaching.

I have chosen four books that represent different perspectives and expose my students to a variety of people from different backgrounds.

The books requested will provide opportunities to have shared reading experiences, challenge previously held ideas or spark new interests.

Some of the other items are new classroom basics that extend beyond paper and pencils to prepare us for the hybrid classroom.
