My Students

I teach 4th grade social studies to an amazing group of kids. The school is departmentalized, so I work with a team of 3 hardworking, talented teachers. Since we each have 20-25 students, I will be teaching social studies to nearly 100 students this year. The school has worked to build a strong sense of community, and, as a social studies teacher, I will do my part to create active citizens.

Inquisitive, thoughtful, and kind, my students are ready to shape the future.

They will use technology in new, exciting ways in the fight for social justice, and they will take an active role in their community (starting with our classroom).

My Project

The Virginia Mysteries book series is perfect for my class because 4th grade social studies focuses on Virginia Studies. Our library has a wide selection of books, but I want to fill my classroom's reading area with great books too! The Wild Robot was the best book I read during my children's literature course, and I am excited to read the sequel. I have also added some educational games that my students can use after completing their daily work. I have met my basic classroom needs, and now I am trying to fill the room with fun opportunities for learning.
