My Project

We got a great book vending machine through our DonorsChoose grant last school year. This year we are using that machine as a behavior incentive for students to earn books to take home to keep. Each month every adult on campus has the opportunity to gift a gold coin to a student that has been working extra hard in their class. We are vending around 50 books a month for our kids who are working so hard to be amazing. As such, it is time to refill our vending machine, again. This project is for the titles that our teachers have been reading in class to spark the interest of our students.

Every child deserves the chance to have their own books to keep in their home.

Our book vending machine incentive is how we get books into the hands of our students to reward their hard work and good behavior. The books this time include the "hot list" from our teacher read alouds. The kids have been walking by the machine seeing some of the titles that their teachers have been reading in class. Each time we have a gold coin book vending machine day there are tons of students who are trying to get the books that their teachers have introduced them to during class read alouds. Since our teachers are planting those seeds of loving to read, our students are starting to put down roots for specific titles and work towards earning their free book.
