Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.” – Phillip Pullman
My students are from an inner city and love to express themselves through art and technology!
All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, and our district currently lacks many of the technological advances of the 21st century, and many students do not have access to technology at home. I love finding new ways to encourage and incorporate life skills and the arts through my language arts curriculum.
My Project
During the year we read novels together but often the students would like to read novels on their own and at home. We do not have library periods in our schedule to get library books for their enjoyment.
"At first you learn to read then, you read to learn"
These books would enable my students to have a love for reading because they will have the current titles to choose from. Our class library is outdated and the students always complain about the content of the books. This project will enable my student to learn to love to read while learning.
