Books and Bags for Bedtime Tales

My Students

Reading is a favorite part of my students' school day. Help make reading a favorite part of their bedtime routine!

I have 22 eager beavers in my room excited to learn the reading process.

We are learning 3-4 sight words weekly to help us begin to read simple books. Many students are still working on learning letters and sounds while some are already able to decode words. Reading is such an exciting time in our school day! They are expected to read at home every night but it never fails that some students are sad because they do not have a lot of books at home to read. My students are blessed that they are given two books to go home every day however eventually they are taking home the same books and become bored. They love taking home books and look forward to receiving their new books to share with their families!

My Project

Receiving books and book bags to keep our books safe will help ensure that every student is able to complete their required home reading. Unfortunately, many books that have been used for students to take home in the past are ripped. This is a result of students not having a great spot to place these books and they often end up at the bottom of book bags smashed between other items. These books that we currently have our shared across kindergarten and first grade. That is over 300 students that are sharing these books! Our classroom is in desperate need for additional books that are being shared among a much smaller group of students. Each student would then receive their own book bag that would keep their books safe in their very own bag. As we all know, when a student feels ownership they take great pride in their work and materials!

Reading every day is so important in a young child's life.

By donating to this project, you will ensure that 22 students will have books to take home nightly and be kept in a safe bag so more students can read these books. We appreciate your donation and support that you are able to give to the sweetest kindergarten class!
